Employee Spotlight - Abhijeet Yadav
Written By: Abhijeet Yadav
In our series of Employee Spotlights, you get to meet our Unifii team members! Today we stay in our London office to meet Principal Consultant Abhijeet Yadav - see what he had to say in our Q&A.
Hi, I’m Abhijeet, a Principal Consultant/ITOM Tech Lead at Unifii. I’ve been at the company for two and a half years but have been working with ServiceNow since 2012! The various roles within my profile include pre-sales, architecture and hands-on scripting and integrations amongst other responsibilities. I come from an extremely technical background: as well as ServiceNow I have also worked on programs such as including Java and Visual C++.
How did you become interested in the industry and how did you stumble upon Unifii?
I came across ServiceNow whilst I was completing my IT Masters course at Bournemouth University. I had a student account on the university’s ServiceNow instance - we used the platform to check our student records, create tickets, and view library related updates, amongst other things. I noticed the URL (sharp eyes 😉) and Googled it, and the rest was history! I started reading loads about ServiceNow’s Cloud platform, which triggered me to start self-learning ServiceNow with Demo instances, and ultimately I just found it a super interesting platform to work on. After that, I secured my first ServiceNow centric job at Orange Business Services after completing my MS. I was then a Senior Technical Trainer with ServiceNow, and lastly a Principal Consultant role here at Unifii, where I’m now fully utilising my technical hands-on experience!
What do you enjoy the most about working at Unifii?
I would have to say it’s the transparency. No matter who you’re talking to everyone here is clear and transparent about their thoughts – this level of honesty is obviously essential for enjoyable and productive working relationships. I also like the fact that everyone is very helpful and approachable, even if you have never spoken to them before!!
What has been the most exciting project you have worked on in your time here?
It’s difficult to choose the most exciting one. I’ve worked on many projects where we worked extremely hard and faced several new challenges which we were (fortunately) all able to overcome! My time here has had a particular focus on ITOM related projects and we have worked with some major clients on projects in this space, so I feel particularly strong in this space now. These projects have been the most personally challenging and so ultimately they have been the most exciting, because of the super rewarding outcomes.
Did your working life change much as a result of COVID-19?
Yes, it changed drastically. I prefer face-to-face interaction over remote meetings - I used to always travel on-site for demos and enablement sessions where I could. Obviously, this came to a grinding halt when the pandemic started and the whole world was forced into remote working. Even though I did have experience working within a remote environment, it was still quite a sudden shock and something I really had to adjust to doing full-time. Whether it was a technical session, a Teams meeting or a weekly/daily catch-up call, I found the new structure so strange at first! However, it's been a year now and I am able to work as efficiently from home as I can in the office. I still do prefer the latter though, as I love the social aspect that it brings so it's great that the London office is opening back up now.
How do you see yourself growing in the next few years?
Unifii has an exciting number of projects in the pipeline across the ITSM, ITBM and ITOM spaces. As the pandemic is still very much around and some people are still adapting to the changes it’s caused, we’re likely to continue to get some very interesting projects to work on! I see myself playing various roles both in the ongoing and upcoming projects, and am really looking forward to continuing to grow professionally.
What do you do in your spare time?
When I’m not working, my time is mostly split between watching cricket matches, films as well as playing tennis, which I’m excited to get back into properly. I also absolutely love cooking, and so the blessing of being at home has been having more time for that!
